The three channels
Section titled “The three channels”| Channel | What it is |
|---|---|
| To the address on your account. | |
| In-app | The bell in the navigation bar. |
| Push | A browser notification on a device you have enabled. |
Push has to be enabled once per device before anything arrives. A card at the top reads Browser push on this device with an Enable button; once on, that device receives push for any event you have given the Push channel to. If your browser has already blocked notifications the card says so — “Push is blocked in your browser settings — re-enable it there first.” — and you have to unblock it there.
Changing what you receive
Section titled “Changing what you receive”- Open Account → Notifications.
- Each category is a panel you can fold open, with a master switch on its header. Flipping the master switch sets every event in the category at once.
- Inside, each event is a row with one toggle per channel.
- Changes save the moment you flip a toggle. There is no Save button. If a change fails, the toggle springs back and you get an error.
A master switch only reads as “on” when every event under it is on for every channel, so a single toggle turned off anywhere makes the whole category look off. That is the switch being accurate, not broken.
What you can turn off
Section titled “What you can turn off”These nine events are the whole of it — they are the only rows on the page. Each is on for Email and In-app by default.
| Event | Category | When it fires |
|---|---|---|
| New registration submitted | Registrations | An athlete or team submits one of your forms |
| Resubmission offered to applicant | Registrations | An existing applicant is offered a resubmission after you republish a form |
| Payment received | Payments | A payment completes |
| Payment slip pending review | Payments | A bank-transfer slip is uploaded and needs someone to look at it |
| Payout sent | Payments | Your earnings have been paid out to you |
| Payout account changed | Payments | The bank account your payouts go to is changed |
| Tournament draw published | Tournaments | A draw is published |
| Tournament configuration changed | Tournaments | A live tournament’s configuration changes |
| New user invited | Team & Access | Somebody is invited to your organisation |
The categories themselves are Registrations, Payments, Tournaments, Team & Access, Security and Billing. The last two describe what arrives rather than offering anything to change.
What always sends, and why
Section titled “What always sends, and why”Everything else Sqoura sends is transactional. It has no toggle, and that is a decision rather than an omission.
Security notices about your own account — your password was changed, your two-factor settings changed, a session was signed out, your role was changed, your audit export is ready or failed.
These are how you find out that somebody else has done something to your account. A notice you can mute is no use for that: whoever has your account could mute it first.
Support-session notices — a support session has started on your account, it has ended, or emergency support access was used on your organisation.
The same reasoning, more sharply. A preference toggle here would let anyone with account access silence the one signal that they have account access. These are never batched or delayed either, because the point of them is that you can end a session while it is still running.
Billing notices — your trial is ending, renewal is due, a payment could not be taken, access has been suspended, you are close to a plan limit, you have reached one. They go to whoever owns billing.
A bank does not let you mute an overdraft warning, and unsubscribing from a renewal reminder is not consent to losing your product in a fortnight. These are the notices that prevent an outage, so they are not optional.
The data-retention notice — Applicant files will be deleted. It is sent to your organisation’s owners before registration files and payment slips are permanently removed under your retention period, while there is still time to export them or put a hold on them. It is the last chance you get, so it cannot be switched off.
Everything sent to applicants — approved, rejected, changes requested, team review summary, payment failed, tournament details changed.
Applicants have no account and no bell to check, so email is the only way to reach them and none of it is preference-gated. You cannot turn these off on an applicant’s behalf, and applicants cannot turn them off either.
