Results and standings

Results turn a finished event into a record: a place per athlete, a medal table, a club ranking and a set of documents you can print.

Scoring happens inside the event you already have open, on the tournament’s own Taolu and Sanda tabs. There is no separate results area of the product.

Every Taolu event moves along a spine of states, shown as a pill on the event:

No entries → Not drawn → Drawn → Frozen → Awaiting results → Final

A frozen running order that no longer matches the entry list is additionally marked Out of date.

The Results sub-tab only appears once the event has actually run and Sqoura has opened its score sheet. An event still waiting to be drawn has no Results tab at all — that is not a fault, and it is not driven by the date on the session, because an event can be rescheduled or abandoned.

  1. Open the tournament and go to the Taolu tab. The left column lists the events; click the one you are scoring.

  2. The panel’s main button changes with the event’s state: Draw start list (“Positions are assigned by lot”), then Freeze start list (“Until you freeze it, this order redraws itself whenever an entry is approved”), then Print…. The menu holds Redraw by lot, Unfreeze and Print….

Drawing needs the permission to generate draws; freezing and unfreezing needs the permission to publish draws. Both are greyed out with an explanation rather than hidden.

  3. Once the event has run, open the Results sub-tab, beside Running order and Declarations.

  4. Type each athlete’s score straight down the column.

    Key What it does
Enter Moves to the next athlete.
Alt + D Marks the athlete out.

Places recalculate as you type, and a tie is flagged with “tie”.

  5. Each row’s status cycles with a click: Pending, Scored, DNS, DNF, DQ. A disqualification asks you “Why?”.

  6. Scores save themselves. The indicator reads “Scores save as you type.”, then “Saving…”, “Saved”, or “Not saved” in red when a save failed. Watch it on a poor venue connection.

  7. Press Finalise event to commit the sheet. It waits for every queued edit to reach us first, so a score typed a second before the click is not lost. You get “Results finalised”.

Entering scores at all needs the permission to record results. Finalising needs the finalise permission, and the button is greyed out either with the reason the event is not ready or with “You do not have permission to finalise results.”

Until an event is finalised it has no published outcome:

  • an athlete’s Place stays blank on their history — see Athletes;
  • the event does not appear under placings in Standings;
  • qualification is not published. On a season page, an applicant reading it is told “Qualifiers are published here once each event’s results are final.” See Your place in a season.

So a competition where everybody knows the winner but nothing has been finalised looks, to every athlete and parent outside the venue, exactly like a competition where nothing has happened.

A finalised event shows a Final lock with the name of whoever committed it, and the line “Committed. Reopening it to correct anything is recorded.”

Reopen needs the permission to correct finalised results and prompts “Reopening a finalised result is recorded. Why is it being reopened?” A blank answer cancels the whole thing. You then get “Results reopened for correction”.

The reason is not a formality — it is written into the record against your name, which is the point of it.

  1. Open the tournament, go to the Sanda tab and pick a weight category.
  2. Bouts are laid out in bracket order, grouped by round, red corner against blue corner.
  3. Choose how the bout ended: On points, Knockout, Technical knockout, Opponent withdrew, Opponent disqualified or Walkover.
  4. For On points, type the rounds won by each corner in the two boxes.
  5. Tap the winner to record the bout and advance them.
  6. Press Finalise event when the category is done. You get “Event finalised”.

Where nobody actually fought, the screen says so: “No bout takes place — the opponent is not required to have competed. Tap the athlete who advances.”

Two checks catch the common mis-taps — “The rounds entered do not agree with the corner tapped”, and “Enter the rounds won by each corner before recording a points decision”.

The Standings tab appears on the tournament once something has been scored.

  • Medal table — rank, Club, Gold, Silver, Bronze, Total. The rank is calculated on our side, so two clubs on identical medals genuinely share a position.
  • Placings by event — every finalised event with its ordered placings: place, athlete, the word shared where a place is tied, club and score. Scores are shown to two decimal places.

A shared place is a real tie. It is labelled so that nobody “corrects” it.

The ordinary empty states are “Standings appear once events have been scored and finalised.” and “No medals awarded yet.”

A genuine failure says so in its own words: “Could not load standings for this tournament. Try again — this is not a report that nothing has been scored.” Treat that as a fault to retry, never as a result.

Every print pack opens in a new browser tab containing only the documents — no sidebar, no header — so your browser’s own print dialog puts the pages straight onto paper. Each pack is a plain link, so you can bookmark it and print it again later.

If pressing a print button appears to do nothing, your browser’s pop-up blocker is the usual cause.

Three buttons sit in the Standings tab header:

Button What it prints
Print results Standings and placings.
Print medal table The medal table.
Print qualifiers Qualifying lists, with a real ruled line drawn between the last qualifier and the first near-miss.

TaoluPrint…, on an event or from its menu, opens the Print pack dialog. It tells you how many events and athletes are covered and estimates the page count, such as “≈ 34 pages · A4 portrait”. Tick what you need:

Document What it is
Start list One page per event — running order, club and age. For the mat and the notice board.
Roll-call list The list the Chief Registrar signs and hands over.
Difficulty declaration sheets One page per athlete per routine, in running order. Group C judges confirm in sequence — print a copy each.
Group A — quality of movement One sheet per event, deduction code over value. Print a copy per Group A judge.
Group B — overall performance One grade per athlete against the nine bands, the whole event on one page. Print a copy per Group B judge.
Deduction code reference The movement codes for each family in the selection, one page each. A judge keeps it beside them.
Score recording — master Every judge’s column on one sheet, plus the head judge’s deductions. What the recorder collates on.

Declaration sheets are greyed out when no event in your selection collects difficulty codes (“No event in this selection collects difficulty codes.”), and the code reference when no event is mapped to a code table. If a selected event has not been drawn yet, a warning tells you its pages will print empty.

Open pack opens the tab.

Sanda, or Sessions, then the print button. It holds Draw diagrams, a Schedule form, the Match sequence and Standings.

You can narrow it to particular weight categories and particular sessions. Everything is included by default, and a pack you have not narrowed stays correct if a category is added later.
